C. 1910 Ivory Lace and Silk Dress w French Knot Detail
Edwardian ivory silk dress with attached lace vest and French knot detail on the collar. The bodice of the dress is the ivory lace over an under structure of ivory net lace that hooks center front. An additional net lace panel is set at the center front down the V neckline. The rounded Peter Pan collar is accented with French knots and chain stitch. The chain stitch continues down the center front left and right. The floral lace vest is attached to the bodice around the neckline seam at tacked at the side seams. The sleeves are sheer ivory silk Georgette decorated with a lace applique. Encircling the waist is a horizontally draped sash that hooks at the left hip and is accented with several matching silk roses. The skirt of the dress laps right over left hooking securely to the inner twill tape waist support band. Snaps continue to close the skirt down the left side, just to the front of the side seam. The sides of the skirt are pleated and accented by a little pannier of matching lace. At the base of the skirt just above the hem some of the skirts fullness is gathered behind a 15 x 3 inch band of matching lace.
