1920s Perriwinkle Blue Gown Set w Six Silk Roses
Late 20s to early 1930s perriwinkle blue silk chiffon dress with silk flower decoration. The dress has deep V neckline both front and back and still has its original slip. Surrounding the neckline is a matching fabric, 7 1/2 long by 2 1/2 wide trim that is the shape of flaps with bound edges. . The flowers that decorate the front of the dress are pretty ratty looking and have certainly seen better days. The asymmetrical dropped waist seam line connects the upper dress to the lower dress. The skirting of the dress is in three layers. The layer closest to the skin is the original slip that has a deeply cut scalloped trim. Next is a layer of matching cerulean silk Georgette with the same scalloped trim edge. The top layer is an amazing skirt oif vertical panels that in later years would be called a car wash skirt. The panels are asymmetrical and are all six and a half inches wide and in various lengths. There is some slight fading on the right side of the bodice and on the right side of the neckline fringe. Smocking accents the center back of the dress.
