Periwinkle Blue Silk Dress w Pleated Skirt
1920s Perriwinkle blue silk dress with an asymmetrical tiny box pleated skirt. This front neckline is in a V with an extended line of fabric on the right and left sides that becomes a scarf that ties at the center front at the base of the V. Accenting the ends of the ties are two gathered pieces of floral lace. The center back neckline has 7 fixed pleats. The long narrow sleeve has a three inch run of gathers along the inside seam at the elbow. The gathering creates extra fabric allowing freedom of movement for the elbow. At the base of the sleeve at the wrist are five covered buttons to close. Also in the same area but on opposite sides of the sleeve is a pass thru into which matching ivory floral lace has been passed thru. The skirt and the bodice join at the dropped waist seam line. The skirt is a two part construction. The upper portion is a flat asymmetrical piece that extends into 16 and 25 inch long ties that tie at the left hip. The lower portion of the skirt is made up of a series of tiny box pleats 3/16th of an inch wide. The front portion of the skirt curves up right to left. The left side of the skirt is open all the way to the drop waist seam line. But once the ties are knotted and allow to drape down the woman's fancy silk slip would peek out or perhaps more risque the top of her stocking. There is a tiny pinhole on the back of the left shoulder. There is a slight bit of color fade across the left shoulder and on the right front 3 inches down a small circle of fade. Also there are some fade streaks on the sleeves.
