Victorian Painting Smock
1870s Victorian painting smock. When I first looked at this I thought is was a motoring coat. But looking at it closer it has a dropped shoulder and a certain fullness that would accommodate large skirts so I am thinking it is a painting smock. I recently saw a womenÕs painting smock in France. The garment closes with large abalone shell buttons and it is missing the six lower buttons. The garment has a pleated patch pocket. There is some staining and one small hole on the front of the garment. See Photo.
